Key Terms

Terms you will need to know for solution stoichiometry:

Precipitation reactions - a reaction that results with a solid
Neutralization reactions - an acid-base reaction that results into water and a salt
Acid - a compound that produces hydrogen ions when it is dissociated in water
Base - a compound that produces hydroxide ions when it is dissociated in water
Precipitate - a solid that forms after a reaction has completed
Titration - an experiment in which we neutralize an acid and a base
Indicator - the chemical that tells you the endpoint of a titration by changing color
End point - the point in a titration when the indicator changes color
Redox reaction - a reaction in which electrons are transferred to other ions
Oxidation - a loss of electrons (LEO)
Reduction - a gain of electrons (says GER)
Solution stoichiometry - a process that involves using one solution to determine the amount of a compound
