Here are some terms relating to Ksp problems you should know!
• Common Ion Effect – The solubility of a solid is lowered is the solution already contains ions common to the solid.
•Conjugate Acid – acid that froms from the dissociation of a base, with formula HX, of a pair of two compounds that transform into each other by gain of a proton.
•Conjugate Base – Base produced from the dissociation of an acid, with formula X-, that either absorbs/gains a proton.
• Dissolution – Process by which a solid or liquid forms a homogeneous mixture with a solvent.
•Equilibrium – Condition of a system in which competing influences are balanced.
•Molarity – Measure of the concentration of a solute in a solution. Units in moles/liters. Symbolized with a capital “m” (M).
• Precipitate – An insoluble solid formed from a precipitation reaction.
•Solute – Substance dissolved in another substance (solvent).
• Solubility Product Constant – The constant for the equilibrium expression representing the dissolving of an ionic solid in water.
• Solutions – A homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances.
• Salt – Product of the neutralization of an acid and a base
